Surviving job burnout is becoming stressful.
I am a preschool teacher and have been teaching for about 30 years. How do I survive job burnout? Anybody else feeling frustrated?
I have been teaching middle school for over 20 years. I dread going home because the amount of work expected to be completed for the next day is too much. I have decided to cut down the marking. I get kids to mark more. If anyone demands to know why the students don't have their work returned on a 'timely' basis I remind them I don't work in the evening or weekends. But I also know I can't keep up to the curriculum expectations unless I do the marking. Class time = teaching. Prep time = preparring lessons (eg photocopying) therefore my time = marking. How do I survive - it is was I call 'dark humour', the jokes I make when I am home about who and what I teach is my release. And, I journal and meditate. I hope this helps. SGS
Yes, I think burnout is a very common theme these days. Make sure to turn off when you can and take time for yourself. And if something needs to change at work, can you go to your leaders to discuss?
