Burnout effects
At my last job I was tired all the time, constantly angry/annoyed, and I actually gained a little weight (yikes). I know others respond differently so I'm curious to hear how you knew you were burning out....
Burnout is emotional, physical and mental EXHAUSTION. Sounds like you hit symptoms in all of those areas. It's also helpful to think of them like "flags" for you to pay more attention. When you're feeling weary, anxious, frustrated, pausing to ask yourself what emotion you're feeling can be a super helpful first step. Great question and thank you for asking!
For me, it was tired emotional, frustrated, depressed, disinterested in work, not motivated... Oh, not to mention the sleeping issues. I think in general it was more emotions than physical for me, but a relatively normal coping mechanism for stress is to not only comfort eat but also skip on physical activities!
For me, and how I knew I was burnt out, really was the day I was interviewing someone and they asked me what I liked about my job and the company, and it was the first time I didn't feel genuine in communicating the passion I previously had. I knew that it was bigger than some stress and a bad few days...
I love that you were able to reach that moment of clarity, Talia!
