Best advice to your younger self?
What advice would you give your entry-level self?
It will take time to figure it all out. Shooting to the top doesn't take over night. Build your professional network inside and outside your current company and make an effort to touch base with some that are inspiring or can give you advice.
Well said & wise, Susan ?
Thing about your future as a "big picture".
My younger self was (reasonably) SO concerned about finding a well paying job, affording a car, checking the "supposed to" boxes, etc. I'd tell her to explore more and find what she enjoys.
Yes! Survival mode can totally take over and we get entrenched in that new normal. It can lead to a creative atrophy where it gets super hard to even recognize what we really want. Do you have any advice for how to explore what you enjoy?
For early college/early career folks I'd recommend a variety of internships and jobs that will expose you to new skills, environments, etc. Also, someone recently recommended the book What Color is Your Parachute as a good guide for finding your career path or a new career. Haven't finished reading it just yet, but the premise is great!
