I love the routines and ideas so far in this group! I do simple things to separate work and home life. I make sure that i "get ready" for work in the mornings - this helps me put myself in the right mindset to focus on work. Then at the end of my work day, I make sure to log off around the same time, and actually shut down my computer. I try and get a walk in with my dog every evening, cook dinner, and then try and unwind with a cup of tea before bed. I don't add my work email or chat apps to my phone so that I can make sure i'm not checking my phone on weekends.

One thing the pandemic has given me is better work-life balance. In the field in which I work, I'm often asked to work weekends for events, meetings, etc. Plus, in my personal life, I manage a small nonprofit, sit on another board, and participate in a small improv theater. All of this kept me "booked" with something at least one weekend day on top of my full time job. So much has now been cancelled and I have gloriously embraced my free-er weekends. I have had more time to devote to family and managing my household, more time to do some volunteer work (including donating platelets every three weeks), and more time to realize how beneficial this is to my mental health. There are many things I miss, but the last few months have helped me realize that this balance is much better for me.

Hi. I am new FGB and this group! I am eager to read responses to this question! I, too, have an evening routine to de-stress my brain and body. I jog and core strengthen but I also de-tone my shoulders and neck. I spend most of my days sitting at a desk so creating balance in my workout is important. I also meditate twice a day - to start my day off and to wind it down.

Self care is so important and I think different for everyone! One of the biggest gifts of self care I try to give to myself is an evening routine where I am not attached to the phone and read a good book with a cup of tea.

About this group

We are in this together. Burnout is real and it can impact every single part of your life. The good news: This is your space to share, connect, learn and lean on other women who have been where you are and are ready, willing, and able to help you get where you want to be. It can feel lonely. If you are a director, manager, or team leader you can't talk to your peers at work for fear of being seen as weak. You can't talk with your boss or leadership board because you ...Read more
