I am experiencing "we are eliminating your position to go back to pre-Covid numbers" job layoff.

It has been so frustrating after being at me last job almost 2 years and being let go. Now, I'm back in the job market and have found that more than 90% of the jobs I want to apply for, they want degreed people. They aren't even willing to look at job experience. Thanks and just venting!

I'm sorry to hear this! Yes, I heard too, and read, experience is okay and no degree. Some states are doing this. We are in Alice in Wonderland for 3+ years. Yellow pages are possible employers, temp agencies. Networks. Start your own gig. I been through a lot myself with the job stuff since 2007. Get steady on a job and then they decide to make it harder for Americans. Sorry, I'm venting now.

I cannot understand why your experience isn't a qualification in lieu of a degree. Perhaps going forward, look for positions that degree preferred instead of required.

About this group

We went to college in the 90s, started our careers when cell phones were a luxury that came with a shoulder bag and fax machines were the newest tech. Here we are now, in what should be the best years of our career facing an ever changing work culture that sees established Boomers still running the show with Millennials expecting to be the next leaders. Meanwhile we just want to take a vacation, make sure the kids get to soccer practice and fund our 401k.
