Staffing Firm for 40's and Up

I have seen so many posts recently about women over certain ages finding meaningful work and how their job search has become a dead end. What about some of us coming together to form a staffing or consulting firm that specializes in women over 40? There may already be one out there that I am not aware of. If there is not, there most certainly needs to be. If anyone thinks it is an idea worth exploring please let me know and we can coordinate getting in touch. I am sure if we get enough smart women together we can figure this out! I had posted this comment as a response earlier to another members post about being discouraged about her search but thought I should also ask a wider audience.

I would absolutely sign up. I am 46 and my job is being outsourced along with the jobs of my entire team. I am running into dead ends.

This is a great idea. How would you be able to get people in jobs as a business, when women cannot do it solo. Just thinking ?

This caught my attention right away. I think it's way past time to create a recruiting (and more) company run by, targeting and working for the women of the Gen X generation. And not just as a job source but also offering tips and support as seen here, but specific to us Gen Xers that also allow everyone to learn. As an independent consultant, aka contractor, working in the tech industry as a UX and Visual Designer, I can speak to the utter lack of resources (and lessening opportunities each year) available to women with loads of talent, experience and knowledge. When prospective recruiters, employers or clients first see my portfolio and list of clients I get a ton o' interest only to dampen once they add it up or worse when I'm placed on a job led by a novice who is often threatened, not interested, in how they could benefit if they took advantage of what someone saw as valuable in the first place. I'd like to be part of any effort to advance and de-stimatize experience and knowledge. Sign me up! Not sure if this is allowed, but the best way to reach me besides through FGB is my email [email protected]. I look forward to connecting and sharing experiences with like-minded women.

Would love to be part of starting up something like this, I would think there is definitely a need!

I'd find this incredibly helpful and would sign up. However, by posting anonymously, I have no idea how to reach you.

About this group

We went to college in the 90s, started our careers when cell phones were a luxury that came with a shoulder bag and fax machines were the newest tech. Here we are now, in what should be the best years of our career facing an ever changing work culture that sees established Boomers still running the show with Millennials expecting to be the next leaders. Meanwhile we just want to take a vacation, make sure the kids get to soccer practice and fund our 401k.
