Hello my fellow Gen X'ers
I have recently found y'all and I am happy to be here. Recent empty nester here and like many, facing a permanent lay off coming on the 19th. The company (call center and production facility) that I had hoped to retire from is outsourcing all but 20 positions to Jamaica. The company has currently laid off/termed over 300 employees in our small town. I am overjoyed for the residents of Montego Bay as my company is paying them WELL over their Minimum wage and I have even recently completed training the two people that will take over my position....
I say all that to say this...Keep your chin up ladies. We will find a way to survive. We have made it this far, right? ♥
So sorry for you, it happened to me months ago. I took the opportunity to make some big changes and it's led me to some exciting future opportunies. Stay positive, this is indeed just a chapter.
Gina this is a blip, but it's just that, a blip. We are a resilient generation and with the right mindset (which you have) you can put a plan in place for what your 'next' looks like. Good luck!
So sorry to know this Gina. One thing I know for sure is that we GenXers are made of tough stuff. Based on what you've written you have a great attitude and I know you will make it. We are more than what we did for jobs. You are right - we've made it this far and we have a lot to offer. Keep your eyes open for new things!
I am so sorry. Good luck!
