GenX Women

Hi everyone!!

I'm new to this fabulous group. I look forward to supporting and learning from all. Really believe we as women need to support each other and learn from each others. Instead of being catty and jealous of that one woman in your place of work ( or just that woman who seems to do no wrong and is multi talented Superwoman). We need to learn to embrace them. Or the woman who is quite and shy and uncomfortable in her own skin. We can learn something from both of these woman. But what usually happens is we are insecure and scared and push these woman down and make them feel unwanted. Makes one feel like they are in middle school again. We all know what I'm talking about. I will get off my soap box and just say, " We need to stick together....we are stronger together...we always have been.

This is a lovely post. I had a manager who used competition between his employees to make them work harder - which is all in good terms to improve results, but it declined for myself, my ability to see things like you mentioned. I would work harder and harder to try to prove myself, when I should have worked better with my colleagues to complete our work together. I realized this late, but it is still something that I struggle with due to how absorbed I was with my past role. What I can say now is that I am aware of this and am working on it to help my colleagues and boost them up!

About this group

We went to college in the 90s, started our careers when cell phones were a luxury that came with a shoulder bag and fax machines were the newest tech. Here we are now, in what should be the best years of our career facing an ever changing work culture that sees established Boomers still running the show with Millennials expecting to be the next leaders. Meanwhile we just want to take a vacation, make sure the kids get to soccer practice and fund our 401k.
