As the Technology Counsel, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Draft, review and negotiate a variety of technology contracts (e.g. IT and Cybersecurity Transition Services, SaaS, Licensing, IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Professional Services Agreements), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;
For technology contracts and related matters, advise on data privacy and security issues, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and industry standards;
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and teams to assess legal risks and provide strategic counsel on technology initiatives;
Stay abreast of emerging legal trends in technology, contributing to the development of company information policies and practices;
Manage and resolve technology-related disputes, working closely with key stakeholders and external counsel when necessary;
Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making on technology-related projects;
Assist in the development and delivery of training programs to educated 3Mers on technology legal matters.
Coordinate with the Sourcing organization and Sourcing counsels on strategic IT sourcing initiatives;
Create and provide training on data protection playbooks, guidelines and self-service tools;
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited law school
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership
Eight (8) or more years of experience with a focus on technology law in a private, public, government or military environment
Strong negotiation and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal advice and manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced business environment and drive projects to completion.
Five (5) or more years of experience negotiating complex global technology contracts
German language fluency
Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures
Understanding of and experience in advising clients in a diversified business environment
Developed a sense of judgment, legal risk management skills, and ability to balance business needs, compliance obligations, and reputational risks in an objective, practical way; demonstrated ability to both grasp the "big picture" and attend to details
Reputation for integrity and ability to balance business partnership with the need to exercise independent judgment

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $215,577 - $263,483, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
