Product Engineer (Hybrid; Maplewood, MN)

• Leading product support activities, including change management project efforts to drive improvements in cost, quality, raw material qualifications and manufacturability for assigned product families.

• Contributing to the development of new products and applications by understanding product formulations, manufacturing processes, key customer requirements and applicable product regulations and certifications.

• Planning, executing, and analyzing laboratory experiments and running quality test methods to achieve product engineering objectives, and to support customers and manufacturing sites with product quality issues and troubleshooting efforts.

• Taking ownership of assigned test methods and leading revision/improvement efforts.

• Generating and maintaining product claims data, product data sheets, and product specification documents.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)

• Three (3) years' combined experience in product engineering, process engineering, product commercialization, new technology development and/or new product development in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Expertise equivalent to that which would be obtained in a master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Physical Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

• Experience designing and running laboratory experiments, analyzing results, and summarizing recommendations.

• Statistical analysis skills, including statistical process control, Design of Experiment, and use of Minitab or similar software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding networking skills, exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.

Work location:

• Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to St. Paul/Maplewood campus 2-4 days per week)

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
