Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the mainframe application development team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
Mainframe Development Ownership: Oversee all aspects of mainframe application design, development, testing, and deployment using technologies like COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
System Modernization: Drive modernization initiatives, integrating mainframe applications with contemporary technologies such as Java or cloud platforms.
Project Leadership: Lead multiple mainframe development projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline while meeting business objectives.
Technical Strategy: Define and implement strategies to optimize mainframe applications for performance, scalability, and future requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with business and IT leaders to gather requirements, align development priorities, and report on progress.
Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and performance enhancements to ensure high team efficiency and system reliability.
Risk Management: Proactively identify development risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain system stability and meet business expectations.
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 10+ years in mainframe application development, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role managing mainframe development teams.
Technical Expertise: Strong command of COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and experience in integrating mainframe applications with modern technologies like Java or cloud-based solutions.
Leadership and Collaboration: Proven experience leading teams, driving successful project outcomes, and collaborating across functional groups.
Modernization Focus: Demonstrated ability to execute and oversee the transition of legacy systems to more modern, efficient architectures.
Agile and DevOps Practices: Knowledge of Agile methodologies, ITIL frameworks, or DevOps practices is a strong plus.
Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders and align development goals with organizational objectives.

Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions.
