Provide an expertise of carrier partner options for all coverages in their territory for the field agents.
Oversee a book of business within a geographic territory. Place profitable business.
Analyze submissions and make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and control. Based on insurance company authority levels, accepts, declines or modifies new and renewal business to provide a profitable book of business.
Use underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with authority levels and state regulation.
Review relevant underwriting information for risks including applications, inspections, loss control recommendations, loss history, credit checks, D&B reports. Prices business according to insurance company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
Handle new and renewal placement process, including rating or submitting to insurance company. This process also involves negotiating with sales/service team or company. Additionally, it includes obtaining updated customer information and preparation of presentation and proposal/quotation materials.
Work with internal staff or carriers to resolve questions and issues related to applications or policies issued by our vendors or to obtain guidance on more complex coverages.
Assist agents and staff with carrier information and general processes.
Provide field management and agents with vendor product information and support in their sales efforts by an internal sales support team. Maintain relationships with brokerage and alliance companies to maintain high customer service standards.
We may require you to complete other assignments or participate in projects based on skills, achievements, or experience.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
Demonstrated experience providing customer-oriented solutions or service.
Demonstrated experience using PC software applications (e.g., Internet Explorer, Outlook,)
Demonstrated experience in account management/insurance placement for commercial and specialty personal lines products.
Demonstrated experience placing profitable business.
Solid knowledge and application of underwriting concepts and servicing for excess/surplus coverages for all admitted carriers and recognizes when to use a Excess and Surplus lines broker.
Experience with brokerage customer service, carrier placement and policy processing processes, terms and procedures.
Demonstrated experience using reference materials, reading policy language, and processing rules and procedures.
Demonstrated understanding of carrier appetites and market conditions.
Demonstrated experience consulting with agents.
Licenses
Required to maintain current, active license(s) status by continuing education and meeting all state, operating and regulatory requirements.
Travel Requirements
Up to 10%.

In this home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time working from home. This will typically be 4 or more days per week, and you will need to be proximate to one of our office locations, which is within approximately 35-50 miles. Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Denver, CO 80112; Hopkins, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507;Phoenix, AZ 85034. On occasion, you may ask to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events that the company or team will host.
