    Position summary

    nd in software development. In this position, the candidate's primary responsibility will be designing and developing solutions on both our production lines and within our testing equipment, while collaborating closely with other Apple development software, hardware and testing teams. The Ops Software Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining and improving existing software solutions.

    Description

    • Work cross functionally to define requirements. - Work alongside developers to define architecture & design. - Develop scalable software and be comfortable in Design reviews. - Develop Unit test plan and work closely with QA team to help develop integration plan. - Work with QA team to help debug production issues. - Should be well versed with Git and bug tracking systems - can comfortably use them in day to day development processes. - Provide constructive feedback for testability and suitable solutions relying on data to explain technical decisions

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience with Python (ideally including backend or infrastructure projects)

    • 3+ years of experience with C++ or C or Obj-C or Swift

    • 2+ years of experience shipping and maintaining cloud-deployed applications (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)

    • 1+ years of experience with robotics, control systems, or real-time systems

    • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

    Preferred Qualifications

    • iOS development experience (Swift or Objective-C), including app architecture and deployment

    • Familiarity with modern LLM workflows (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), custom fine-tuning, or MCPs for tool use)

    • Experience with RTOS or embedded Linux development, including flashing/debugging hardware and interfacing with sensors/actuators

    • Familiarity with standard network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, MQTT) and hands-on debugging of connectivity issues

    • Understanding of security principles (e.g., auth flows, secure firmware, or endpoint hardening)

    • Interest or experience in compilers, program analysis, or code transformation (semantic trees, IR, DSLs, etc.)

    • Experience debugging complex integration issues in hardware/software systems (bonus if in manufacturing or robotics contexts)

    • Strong communication skills: able to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to teammates and cross-functional partners

    • Self-driven, able to scope and execute projects independently

    • Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10% domestic and international travel)

    Pay & Benefits

    At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
