Patent Operations Specialist

Applied is seeking a patent operations specialist who can manage the activities of a portion of its wide-ranging US and international patent portfolio. You will work cooperatively with members of the Intellectual Property (IP) department, the Legal and Compliance Organization (LCO), outside law firms, and with other stakeholders in various countries and departments.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills, data analytical skills, and excellent attention to detail. This successful candidate will also be able to work collaboratively in a collegial environment, maintain confidentiality, and operate with the highest of ethical standards and professionalism.

JOB DUTIES
Manage a docket of patent cases and invention disclosures in various business unit (BU) portfolios, including associated records in the Anaqua docketing system
Keep track of deadlines and ensure law firm compliance with Applied's filing prosecution and docketing guidelines
Support the process for invention disclosure submission, patent application preparation and prosecution, while driving best practices and procedures
Coordinate with inventors, BU counsel and outside counsel in preparing and filing patent applications and responses to office actions
Instruct U.S. applications, PCT national phase, Convention and non-Convention applications, and forward and coordinate correspondence between BU counsel and outside counsel
Generate periodic and ad-hoc reports regarding Applied's IP portfolio using Anaqua, Tableau and data analytics tools
Support BU counsel with preparation and management of patent committee meetings, annuities, and invoice review
Provide procedural guidance to law firms and managing guideline documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors' degree (Engineering or Science degree preferred); paralegal certificate a plus
Experience with managing patent workflows
Working knowledge of U.S. and international (Asia and EP regions included), patent procedures, rules, and deadlines
Patent research skills - including effective working knowledge of online research tools, patent office websites and databases, such as PAIR and Espacenet
Prior working experience in multinational law firms or in-house IP departments of multinational companies a plus
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and DocuSign
Strong experience with Anaqua
Experience with project management, data visualization and data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau)
Experience with TyMetrix a plus
