As a 2nd Line Risk Advisor, you will be responsible for interacting with various stakeholders across the organization, reviewing risk findings, ensuring compliance with enterprise data management standards, and effectively communicating identified risks to senior leaders. You'll also collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and risk owners in reviewing risk remediation plans and ensure alignment with the company's risk appetite. Risk advisors are proactive learners who seek to understand the current data management environment so they can best advise, challenge, and influence their partners and teammates. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted risk advisor to business partners, providing grounded, actionable insights and gap assessments related to data management risks.
Perform thorough reviews of data management controls, testing results, and governance practices, ensuring that risks are appropriately assessed and managed across the enterprise.
Conduct ongoing risk assessments, leveraging analytical skills to identify potential data risks, trends, and gaps that require attention, and collaborate with SMEs to shape actionable remediation plans.
Engage in formal and informal challenge mechanisms to ensure first-line stakeholders meet data risk management requirements, adopting best practices where necessary.
Collaborate with partners across the business to explain data risk management requirements and enhance compliance through timely adoption, influence, and collaboration.
Regularly provide updates to senior leadership on data risk findings, including formal presentations on key risks, trends, and control effectiveness.
Stay informed and current on evolving industry trends, regulatory expectations, and best practices in data risk management.
Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and influencing skills across various levels of the organization
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 4 years of experience in a second-line risk management role or At least 4 years of experience in data risk management, or data governance
At least 2 years of experience managing data risk processes or controls
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in risk management within the financial services sector
5+ years of experience in data management or data governance roles with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating data risks
3+ years of experience overseeing metadata management and data quality
