Job Purpose and Impact
Cargill Bioindustrial in Gouda, part of the multinational Cargill Inc., is a globally growing and dynamic supplier of standard and specialty oleochemicals. Cargill in Gouda produces more than 200 products based on natural and renewable raw materials. These products are used in coatings, plastics, adhesives, detergents, and personal care products.
Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the engineering and design of assigned mechanical projects within the project department at Cargill Gouda. The projects range from "greenfield" to "brownfield," and execution may take place during or outside of plant shutdowns. Projects can be single-discipline or multidisciplinary, involving engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, Process Engineering, Process Automation, and Process Safety.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you are involved in all phases of a project-from initiation to completion. You are responsible for developing the mechanical design based on the internal client's requirements by creating drawings and specifications and, if necessary, overseeing proper execution. To achieve this, efficient collaboration and clear communication between departments-Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Reliability, and Safety & Environment (EHS)-are essential.
Most projects are relatively small in scope, with investment values ranging from €2k to approximately €2.5M. These include modification, replacement, expansion, and compliance projects. Due to the nature of the work, the Mechanical Engineer must work pragmatically and effectively in consultation and collaboration with a small project team (if applicable).
