We are automating a dealer's ability to buy, sell, and trade cars. By bringing these two companies together, we are giving consumers and dealers alike the power to reach their destination through a full suite of digital transaction platforms.     This is a hybrid position based out of our Addison, TX office.

    Role overview

    CarOffer, a CarGurus company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Analyst, Strategic Initiatives to join our analytics team and support the highest-level of strategic initiatives across the company. The Principal Data Analyst will play a critical role in analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to strategic planning, business transformation, and new product commercialization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization by leveraging data-driven approaches to enhance overall company strategy, while fostering a culture of high collaboration across Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Finance.

    What you'll do

    • Conduct data-driven analysis, extracting key insights and presenting findings in a compelling way to inform our overall strategy and drive critical business decisions

    • Perform market analysis and competitive intelligence to assess financial viability and prioritize new commercial opportunities

    • Partner with stakeholders from Product, Revenue, Operations, and G&A teams to elicit and answer our most pressing business questions with data-driven, strategic solutions

    • Curate and maintain a set of core metrics to review business performance against our strategic plan and deep-dive into material changes/trends

    • Work cross-functionally to support the execution of high-impact projects across the business that drive continuous improvement within existing operations and unlock new growth opportunities

    • Present analysis, strategies, and results to all levels of the organization, distilling complex ideas into clear, actionable takeaways for executive and managerial decision making

    • Collaborate with Data Engineering to design enriched data sets for analysis.

    • Work closely with Business Intelligence (BI) to ensure efficient and optimized reporting for executive and managerial stakeholders

    What you'll bring

    • 5+ years of experience in a data-focused analyst or consulting role. Preferably focused on strategy, operations, or business development; within tech industry is a plus

    • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred

    • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and techniques, such as Excel, SQL, Python, and R Proficiency in business intelligence software, such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

    • Proven track record of collaborating cross-functionally and driving strategic initiatives Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity

    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business priorities
