Role overview
As a Principal Software Engineer on the Algorithmic Traffic Acquisition team, you'll be part of a high-performing team responsible for managing millions of dollars of spend that brings over 40 million visitors a month to CarGurus. As a member of Team Content, you'll fuel our network of ads, finding ways to drive efficiency and expand our reach.
What you'll do
Work closely with product managers and other engineers to identify opportunities and drive initiatives for improving our ad reach and efficiency
Participate in regular meetings with our ad partners (e.g. Google, MSN, Meta) to provide technical insight and guidance
Build, maintain, and improve highly performant systems written with clean, well-tested code
Maintain an internal UI for managing our ad program
Provide technical leadership across ATA, refining to our overall approach to design and architecture and setting standards for the team to follow
Mentor junior engineers, helping them to improve by consistently providing thoughtful feedback and technical advice
What you'll bring
Proficiency in Kotlin (preferred), Java, or C#
Experience writing efficient queries in SQL and tuning database performance
Experience working in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment with daily code deploys
Self-starter who proactively seeks out new opportunities to leverage our ad partners' offerings
Excellent communicator comfortable working closely with less technical stakeholders
Experience with noSQL databases (Snowflake, Redis) is a plus
Experience in Terraform/AWS is a plus
Experience in React is a plus
