Position Summary
The Booker Vineyard Tasting Room Assistant Manager reports into the Hospitality and Events Manager and is responsible for working with their team to deliver an exceptional visitor experience, world- class hospitality, and superlative wine education to all guests that visit our estate. This role oversees administrative and operational duties related to the visitor center, including but not limited to, personnel management, outreach and event sales, retail sales support, shipping and fulfillment support, customer service, inventory management and supporting the Booker and My Favorite Neighbor Hospitality Management team and DTC team in daily operations.
Responsibilities
Drive energy, vibe, brand image, and culture that is aligned with the Booker Brand.
Maintain the high standards of "pride in appearance" across all team members on every shift.
Remain familiar with sales trend and drive sales and visitation in the Tasting Lounge through execution of sales programming, local outreach and collaboration, and SOPs.
Assist in selling and coordinating events and executing with the support of the events management team, ensuring that communication of all upcoming events and initiatives reaches every member of the tasting room team.
Manage a team of up to forty direct reports and provide direction to additional staff as needed.
Manage and develop relationships with outside businesses to drive Tasting Lounge traffic through ongoing outreach efforts.
Assist with staff scheduling, ensuring all employees adhere to California legal meal and rest period guidelines.
Remain familiar with trending KPIs and ensure that spend is managed in accordance with budget.
Help Identify and set Tasting Lounge sales and visitation strategies and goals, execute, manage, and monitor all initiatives to drive daily & monthly sales goals by promoting wine, event, and merchandise sales.
Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training Tasting Lounge Staff.
Provide strong leadership by supporting and coaching staff as well as monitoring employee performance; regularly communicate with staff to achieve mutual understanding and desired results.
Prepare and deliver annual performance appraisals for all direct reports; facilitate regular employee development discussions.
Assist in planning, preparation, and execution of onsite events as needed including Club, Trade, Consumer, and Tasting Lounge events.
Support member retention efforts by providing exemplary customer service and a superlative onsite experience to existing wine club members.
Maintain accurate and up to date selling tools and collateral (Event menus, tasting flights, price lists, signage, club sign up forms etc.) throughout all selling venues to drive Tasting Lounge KPI's and ensure positive consumer experiences.
Resolve consumer and staff issues through strategies that promote positive results.
Understand and comply with all federal and state laws regarding the operation of a winery retail tasting room.
Adhere to all ABC requirements including but not limited to avoiding overserving any guest(s), avoiding serving any underage guest(s), and maintaining a current ABC/RBS certificate.
Understand and comply with all Constellation Brands compliance policies and regulations.
Regularly monitor inventory levels (wine and non-wine) as well as wine movements to accurately track inventory and reduce monthly count variances.
Minimum Qualifications
2 years' supervisory experience in a hospitality environment.
2 years' Direct to consumer, Retail, or Hospitality experience. Tasting Room management experience preferred.
2 years of college preferred with an emphasis on communications, hospitality, business, and or wine and viticulture.
Effective people management skills with proven ability to motivate, lead by example, and manage up to 40 direct reports and additional temporary staff as needed
Demonstrated leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on planning, managing vendors and vendor relations, communication, customer service, and decision making.
Ability to develop and sustain professional relationships with key business partners such as Finance and Human Resources.
Ability to multi-task and approach difficult tasks with a positive "can do" attitude.
Ability to manage projects to completion and analyze results against project goals and objectives.
Requires strong PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook), familiarity with and ability to navigate in both Internet and Intranet environments and experience with winery POS inventory, reporting, and sales systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous local wine Industry Experience and connections/relationships is a plus.
BA degree with emphasis in Business Administration, Marketing, related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge of and passion for wine and food
Strong understanding of wine club and Direct to Consumer sales strategies.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Must be able to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able sit and/or stand for long periods of time, and work on a computer for extended periods.
Must be able to work both inside and outside in varied weather conditions.
Ability to lift 55 lbs (a case of wine) regularly.
Must have a valid driver's license.
May be required to travel.
Must be at least 21 years of age.

The salary range for this role is:
$66,500.00 - $97,700.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
