    Position summary

    offers a flexible/hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays and a third day unique to each team or employee).

    The impact you will have in this role:

    The Database Engineering team is responsible for managing DTCCs public and private cloud databases and responsible for the design, build, and operational aspects of the database. The Principal Database Engineer is an SME and senior member of the DB2 team.

    Your Primary Responsibilities:

    • Work with Mainframe DB2 team, area management, and related technical support groups in the process of engineering mainframe database solutions.

    • Evaluate, install, configure, and maintain DB2 for z/OS, related software products and supporting tools.

    • Communicate issues with software vendors.

    • DB2 system-level performance tuning.

    • Automation of database support procedures and repetitive DBA tasks.

    • Responsible for the integrity and security of data in these databases.

    • Enforce to security controls for the DB2 database environment

    • Participate in DB2 on-call and hot-line rotation.

    • Supervises database activity and assist developers and business clients in the utilization of databases.

    • Provide support for Disaster Recovery tests, database infrastructure changes, application changes, and business operations.

    • Troubleshooting database and SQL related problems

    • Support backup and recovery of DB2 databases

    • Respond to alerts related to DB2 database environment.

    • Assist in the configuration and setup of distributed database connections using JDBC

    • Mitigates risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 8 years of related experience

    • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience

    Talents Needed for Success:

    • Expertise with DB2 for z/OS.

    • Requires general knowledge and hands-on experience with SMPE, planning and applying DB2 maintenance, configuring and supporting DB2 data sharing, DB2 systems performance monitoring and tuning, configuring database security, troubleshooting database issues.

    • Experience with DB2 disaster recovery and database failure scenarios

    • Experience with diverse workload of applications using DB2 for z/OS including batch, RRS, CICS, WebSphere on z/OS and distributed platforms, JZOS, and java batch on distributed platforms is a plus.

    • Understanding of DB2 database statistics and DB2 SMF records.

    • Knowledge of distributed database connectivity configuration and setup.

    • Knowledge of third-party vendor software products that support DB2 for z/OS - BMC (database utilities, Catalog and Change Manager, SQL Explorer and Apptune) and CA Sysview are a plus.

    • Experience with IBM Infosphere Data Replication (Q-Rep or CDC) is a plus.

    • General z/OS skills in areas that including TSO/ISPF, JCL, RACF. REXX and ISPF/CLIST programing are a plus.

    • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, independently with minimal direction.
