the goals and objectives in support of strategic initiatives designed to produce high level EHS performance for the plant
Institute an effective and efficient organizational structure in the EHS Department
Responsible for establishing an effective EHS system to monitor compliance with ISO14000, MESH and relevant governmental and regulatory requirements.
As the EHS Management Representative, conducts Management Review with management staff and provide reports.
Induce a positive attitude and response to all personnel on the need to observe industrial safety regulations, in line with EHS and other governmental regulatory requirements, procedures and practices for the protection of life and property
Consult and liaise with relevant governmental and regulatory authorities on matters related to Environmental Health and Safety, and training requirements
Implement an effective EHS self-audit program to comply with all procedures requirements at regular intervals, and follow up on non-conformance corrective and preventive actions
Be focal point on environmental, health and safety issues and provide input to the plant management team on these areas
Develop, facilitate and participate in forums for knowledge transfers and best practices sharing along with general integration of EHS programs across the plant operations including integration of corporate and sector level EHS initiatives
Facilitate fiscally and socially responsible methods of reducing the environmental footprint of the plant operations
Continuously identify, assess, reduce and eliminate EHS risk including security risk
Lead, establish and maintain relationships with governmental authorities on matters of mutual concern including voluntary certifications eg. ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 etc., maintenance of environmental permits, submission of required reports and maintenance of EHS database
Oversee and consolidate investigation of incidents including near misses, releases and losses and accidents to determine root causes and prepares and directs corrective and preventive action plans as appropriate
Assist the plant management team in responding to emergency situations dealing with the environment, employees and the community
Ensure all employees are properly trained in safety awareness and response
Ensure there is proper documentation of all EHS and MESH program documents and the documents are easily accessible and traceable when needed
Ensure all employees carry out their work in a safe manner
Ensure there is an adequate supply of safety equipment e.g. PPE, fire extinguishers, first aid box etc. and these are well maintained and easily accessible when needed
Ensure the overall safety and cleanliness of the workplace and environment
Ensure full compliance with legal requirements as well as with the requirements of the company's EHS and MESH program
Ensure full compliance with the emergency response plan in the event of emergencies
Ensure the plant meet and achieve all its EHS and MESH program goals and targets
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field from an accredited school
Required AK3 certification
Added Advantage with SMK3 certification.
At least 3 years of management experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) processes
Understanding of UK EHS legislation
Experience of manufacturing processes
Good communication skills and abillity to communicate at all levels
NEBOSH (desirable)
Skills:
Familiar with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 etc., maintenance of environmental permits, submission of required reports and maintenance of EHS database
