As a senior leader in the D-IT Chicago engineering department, you will manage a team of engineering professionals that includes electrical engineers, architects, and technicians. You will work closely with the D-IT Engineering Director and other engineering leaders on the departmental plan and annual goals. Coaching, hiring, and other leadership responsibilities will fall under your scope.
What you'll do:
In this role, you will:
• Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities and overall direction of D-IT's hardware development.
• Lead the electrical engineering team, the design verification lab, and architects for D-IT power products.
• Ensure that product lines are competitive on a global basis with respect to cost, performance, quality, and reliability.
• Work effectively with all business functions as well as key customers to identify voice of the customer, new products and services opportunities, and technical issues that need to be addressed. Assesses trade-offs between business needs, technology requirements, cost, and risk.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Sales organizations to gain an insight into global power quality markets as it relates to D-IT's products and services. Coordinate technical support to Product Management and inside sales organizations, ensuring proper product application and technical understanding.
• Manage team to provide hardware manufacturing support to internal manufacturing teams and contract manufacturers to ensure high quality and trouble-free production. Monitor production yields and rework to identify opportunities for Design-For-Manufacturing improvement.
• Manage and develop people: identify, attract and develop key engineering talent for the organization.
• With the rest of the Division's Engineering management staff, champion continuous process improvements. Improve and develop quality processes for job functions within the department.
• Administers performance management process and plans for team's career development.
• Learn, champion, and promote our Eaton Business System, Eaton Lean System, and Eaton Quality System.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience within product-focused engineering teams
• Minimum 5 years of experience directly managing engineering team(s)
• Experience with highly technical products involving hardware and firmware for both analog and digital subsystems.
• Must be legally able to work within the US without company sponsorship now and in the future
Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in hardware engineering leadership
• Experience working with power electronics, high speed digital design, regulatory standards and requirements, and product development methodologies
• Master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
• Experience managing managers of engineers
• Experience with project management methodology, e.g., gate review process, and software (e.g., Microsoft Project).
• Time spent in sophisticated, global, matrixed organizations within a world class engineering function

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136500.03 - $200200.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
