the role and what you'll be doing:**
The Database Administrator will support system and application functions as relates to SQL Server and its components. The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and repair of an organization's database systems. This includes ensuring data integrity, optimizing performance, and supporting application teams with database-related needs. The DBA plays a critical role in data security, disaster recovery, and compliance.

Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience with database administration primarily on SQL Server.
System DBA focuses on security, audit, patching, vulnerability mitigation, encryption key setup, TDE, AlwaysEncrypted, performance, best practices, e.g.
Installation and best practices configuration of database software and associated products.
Planning and implementation of backup and recovery, DR implementations, and database maintenance activities.
Strong skills in upgrading and life cycle management.
Maintaining specialized environments and HA environments with Windows failover clusters, AvailabilityGroups, log shipping, replication, mirroring.
Engagement with and ability to support Application teams with an application DBA focus - writing, tuning, logical database design, DML, index design, performance, etc.. Able to understand and assist with application specific requirements.
Bachelor's Degree or demonstrated equivalent relevant work experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience, certifications and/or demonstratable relevant work experience.
Demonstrated experience with this specific company and customers.
Strong written and oral communications skills; Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills with the ability to effectively interact with peers, customers, and vendors.
Be fully functional and self-directed as well as integrate into a team.
Ability to provide formal mentorship and cross-train others with less technical knowledge and institutional knowledge.
Ability to technically document processes and procedures and run books.
Ability to handle and manage low to high complexity of assignments.
Ability to follow ITSM and ITIL process such as incident, request, problem and change management procedures.
Proven diligence and adherence to audits and security protocols, procedures and reporting.
Knowledge of USG security and audit process, policy, procedures, laws and requirements.
Display aggressive life cycle management
Demonstratable critical thinking and problem-solving skills
CMDB management.
Ability to document process and procedures
Demonstrated ability to develop automation and efficiencies.
Additional skills in Oracle (Exadata), MySQL, Db2LUW or Postgres a plus.
Advanced diagnostic and performance tool knowledge - extended events, default trace files, SQL Nexus.
Third party tools - Redgate, SQL Sentry, Idera. BMC TrueSight, Datadog, Commvault, and Netbackup, e.g.
Public Cloud based certification and experience - AWS, Azure.
Powershell, Ansible, python and other scripting/automation tools.
Understanding of license management.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $94,000 to $123, 000 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, include an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
