About the role and what you will be doing:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic EMEA Regional Controller to oversee accounting operations across our EMEA entities which are currently in the UK, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with local GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations, while closely collaborating with our Center of Excellence (CoE) in India for transactional support. The EMEA Accounting Director will also partner with the US Accounting Team on the consolidated US GAAP audit, and will be responsible for reviewing payroll accounting in collaboration with third-party payroll providers to ensure accuracy and compliance across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead accounting operations for legal entities in the UK, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and IFRS.
Collaborate with the CoE in India for transactional processes such as billing, collections, accounts payable, fixed assets, journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close support.
Oversee payroll accounting by coordinating with third-party payroll providers, ensuring timely and accurate payroll postings, reconciliations, and compliance.
Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for the EMEA region.
Support the US Accounting Team with the consolidated financial statement audit under US GAAP, including audit schedules and documentation.
Manage statutory audits and filings across EMEA jurisdictions; act as the main contact for third party providers, external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Review and approve statutory financial statements, tax filings, and other compliance deliverables.
Collaborate with the Global Tax Director to ensure income and VAT tax compliance across the region as well as assist in work related to Transfer Pricing, R&D credits and any local authority tax audits in for the region.
Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure consistent application of global accounting policies.
Lead and mentor regional accounting staff; promote continuous learning and collaboration.
Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP optimization in collaboration with the global accounting team and the CoE.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
An excellent understanding of accountancy procedures and principles with significant FRS102 experience and exposure to US GAAP, German GAAP experience a plus
10 years PQE CIMA/ACCA/ACA
Proven track record of influencing stakeholders and senior management in a matrix organisation
Strong experience in management reporting and able to present results to senior stakeholders
Excellent general IT user skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc
Working knowledge of Workday, Office Connect, Blackline and Adaptive a plus
Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties, work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration and consultative skills. Inquisitive and positive mindset in approaching complex problems
