Job Description
To act as a lead automation field service engineer. To prepare, perform, test and commission marine automation related activities in support of new build, upgrade and service related projects.
Initially this role will be based at our Marine Power Test Facility at Whetstone in Leicestershire, but after approximately 18 months travel further afield may be required for durations of up to 4 weeks at a time.
Primarily responsible for the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and documenting of Automation systems, safely, to defined instructions in preparation for hand-over to the test team. The role will also require ongoing maintenance of automation equipment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Installation and checking of associated cabling, circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, UPS batteries/systems and variable speed drives.
Commissioning and full integration of Automation Systems. Service and fault finding on Automation equipment and associated systems.
To produce as commissioned documentation in accordance with independently audited Company Quality and Safety Management Systems e.g. BS EN 18001 and Classification Societies e.g. Lloyds Register and DNV.
Maintain competence through training courses and Electronic learning in line with company policies.
Skills and Qualifications
Is a sole UK National and holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level.
To be competent and have a proven record of Automation System commissioning.
Be competent to produce, and maintain, documentation to the required standards.
HNC level qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or higher
Familiarity with IEC and marine classification society rules desirable.
Experience of MV drive commissioning and fault finding.
Must have established record of sitework.
Good communication skills, written and verbal in English.
