    We are offering the significant role as "Commissioning Manager for HVDC systems" in the "Construction & Commissioning" function to participate in this energy transition for Central Europe.     The Commissioning Manager shall be responsible for leading all commissioning activities of defined HVDC projects under execution as per GE Quality, Construction & Commissioning & EHS Process and guidelines, provide critical commissioning cost related and other support to the bid management team for tenders in the region and will be fully responsible for coordination with customer representatives to ensure client compliance & satisfaction as per the contract.

    The position holder reports to the Regional Construction & Commissioning Leader.

    Mission description

    In particular, the mission consists to:

    • Tender Phase (ITO)

      • Lead the Commissioning Scope of a Large & Complex HVDC project in the Tender phase, including participation in customer/ partner meetings and negotiations

      • Coordinate/ Do costing & scheduling of Commissioning activities

      • Lead the definition of contracting strategy ( sub-con / partner) and its development and application throughout ITO phases with support from EHS, Quality, Planning & Sourcing

      • Prepare tender documents related to Commissioning activities

      • Initially prepare and arrange to take possession of the site infrastructure and develop and plan temporary and permanent site infrastructure

      • Actively participate to project teams from feed stages all the way through completion.

    • Execution Phase (OTR)

      • Lead the Commissioning Scope of a Large & Complex HVDC project in the Execution phase, including participation in customer/ partner meetings and negotiations

      • Prepare Commissioning documentation like ITPs etc.

      • Liaise with design office for timely issuance of data required for preparation of site works (specs, designs, BOQ, material lists, ...)

      • Responsible for preparation of staffing plan, mobilization of site teams & follow up of actuals vs. plan.

      • Prepare the commissioning schedule and coordinate with stakeholders (consortium partner, customer etc.)

      • Monitoring, recording and reporting of the contractor work progress along with Site Commissioning teams

      • Implementing, Monitoring, recording and reporting of the Health, Safety and Environmental performance of the project site as per GE EHS standards in collaboration with Site Construction Staff

      • Set goals and objectives for the Commissioning Engineers mobilized on his projects

      • Publish progress reports and provide key inputs into Project monthly reports

      • Manage commissioning related quality topics including non- conformance reporting and Return of Experience

      • Responsible for managing the risks and opportunities related to Commissioning activities

      • Managing an international team of commissioning engineers for HVDC projects during the commissioning activities directly on site.

      • Required presence on site depends on project status & location

    Candidate requirements

    Skills / Qualifications

    An appropriate qualification in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of work experience would be advantageous but equivalent experience in Commissioning Management is also feasible.

    Have appropriate health and safety experience, trainings and qualifications in line with international standards for roles of this nature to be able to identify and stop unsafe works.

    Experience

    Previous experience of undertaking the role of Commissioning Manager on a large Substation Project. Experience for project execution in Asia would be an advantage but is not essential.

    Have previous experience in commissioning of key elements of the project including, but not limited to the following:

    • HVDC valve system

    • High voltage switchgear (up to 400kV)

    • SCADA systems

    • Protection & Control

    • Grid connection interface works

    • Electrical HV safety rules & safe systems of work

    Knowledge/ Other

    • Be knowledgeable on international standards and 'best practice' in relation to commissioning

    • Be knowledgeable on the key applicable standards and specifications associated with the commissioning works applicable for countries in the region

    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

    • Ability to be proactive and recommend and approve corrective actions if required

    • Will be required to travel frequently across the region and Asia to various project sites with presence on site during execution phase.

    • Fit for offshore missions

    • Ability to work remotely but integrate with the GE's wider team

    • Ability to communicate effectively and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing

    • Fluent in German & English
