    Position summary

    pt through commissioning. The ideal candidate is curious, self-driven, and motivated to continuously develop expertise in protection relays, tools, and evolving grid technologies.

    What You Will Do

    As part of a skilled and supportive protection engineering team, you will:

    • Design protection concepts for FACTS applications for medium-voltage and high-voltage substations

    • Calculate and validate protection settings based on:

      • Short-circuit studies
      • Equipment characteristics
      • Grid topology and operational philosophy
    • Configure and test protection relays from multiple manufacturers

    • Analyze fault behavior and define appropriate protection functions and coordination

    • Plan and participate in:

      • Factory acceptance testing (FAT)
      • Site testing and commissioning support
    • Produce and review high-quality technical documentation

    • Participate in technical discussions with customers, project teams, and suppliers

    • Support sales, R&D, and standardization activities with protection expertise

    • Contribute to commissioning of FACTS equipment (STATCOM, SVC)

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems

    • Solid understanding of power system protection principles

    • Knowledge of:

      • Medium voltage systems
      • Fault current behavior and short-circuit calculations
      • Core protection functions (overcurrent, earth fault, differential)
    • Ability to analyze problems systematically and work with incomplete data

    • Good written and spoken English

    • Willingness to travel occasionally

    Considered a Strong Advantage

    • Experience with protection of:

      • Transformers
      • Reactors
      • Capacitor banks
      • Busbars
    • Hands on experience with protection relay configuration or testing

    • Ability to create protection panel schematic drawings using Engineering Base or similar design tools

    • Familiarity with different relay vendors or protection philosophies

    • Finnish or other additional languages
