roduct Management and Application Engineering to interpret market trends, customer use cases, and generalized utility/grid requirements (grid services, interconnection standards like IEEE 1547) for utility-scale BESS.
Define and document clear, concise, and verifiable system-level product requirements.
Decompose system requirements and allocate them effectively to relevant internal design teams (Power Electronics/PCS, Battery Systems/BMS, Controls & Software, Mechanical/Thermal, Safety).
Manage product requirements and their traceability using designated tools and processes.
Develop and maintain standardized, modular, and scalable system architectures for our utility-scale BESS product lines.
Define key internal system interfaces (hardware, software, communication protocols) ensuring interoperability between subsystems developed by different teams.
Lead system-level design trade-off analyses to optimize the product platform for performance, manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, safety, and cost.
Define product configuration rules and guidelines to support modularity and project-specific adaptation.
Facilitate cross-functional design reviews, ensuring subsystem designs align with the overall system architecture and requirements.
Assist design teams in understanding the implications of their design choices on other subsystems and overall system performance/safety.
Define the overall strategy for integrating subsystems into a functional BESS product.
Lead or participate in system-level FMEAs and Hazard Analyses during the design phase to identify and mitigate risks inherent in the product design.
Define the system-level verification and design validation strategy for the BESS product platform.
Collaborate with test engineering to develop comprehensive test plans (including Design Verification Testing - DVT, and supporting Type Testing) that ensure product requirements are met.
Analyze system test results to validate the design against requirements, providing feedback to design teams for necessary improvements.
Ensure the BESS product architecture and subsystem requirements incorporate relevant industry standards (e.g., UL 9540, UL 1973, relevant IEC standards, NFPA 855, common grid code principles) from the outset.
Support the product certification process by ensuring design documentation and test evidence meet compliance requirements.
Own the creation and maintenance of core system-level design documents: System Requirements Specifications, System Architecture Descriptions, ICDs, System FMEAs, V&V Plans.

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
10+ years of experience in a systems engineering role within a product development environment, focusing on complex electro-mechanical or power systems.
Proven experience translating market/customer needs into technical system requirements for internal design teams.
Strong understanding of system architecture principles, modular design, and interface definition.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with relevant industry standards (UL, IEC, NFPA) and grid interconnection concepts (IEEE 1547).
Experience with requirements management processes and tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills tailored for collaboration within engineering teams.
Experience working effectively in multi-disciplinary R&D or product design teams.
Experience developing platform-based or modular hardware/software products.
Experience specifically in the design and development lifecycle of utility-scale BESS or closely related power conversion products.
Experience leading system-level FMEAs, FTAs, or other safety/reliability analyses during design.
Knowledge of power system simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD, ETAP) applied to design validation.
