What you'll do on a typical day:
Develop and establish a culture of compliance and safety in the workplace by preparing and enforcing policies
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and ensure compliance with the law
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes
Recommend solutions, improvement opportunities or preventive measures
Handle the driver's annual reviews for assigned regions
Review all MVR's that are ran on current drivers to be sure we are DOT legal
Perform all safety related functions including, but not limited to, accident reviews, annual reviews, and take the lead on self-audits of all program areas including driver's file
Participate in periodic self-audits conducted by the Corporate Compliance Department
Work with terminals to obtain new, replacement, or renewed permits for our fleet of vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations.
Support the recruitment team with driver's qualification, onboarding, and termination process
Support the regional safety meetings on a monthly basis and communicate information from meetings to corporate headquarters and local employees
Execute periodic reporting requirements. (Daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)
What you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
1 year of related health and safety experience
Experience preparing and presenting safety reports to executive management
It'd be great if you also have:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to clearly communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce
Demonstrated supervisory skills, especially leading and motivating others to implement new processes
Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to multitask and strong attention to detail
