Your role and responsibilities

As an entry level Designer at IBM, you will be in the AI Experience Strategy & Design team whose core purpose and capabilities are Business Strategy and Experience Design enabled by AI. We take on the biggest challenges facing businesses today and design the business models, operating models, workflows, new products and services, technical architecture and AI assets to power employee and customer experiences.

As an entry level Experience Consultant, you will use human-centered design to solve business challenges through a human lens. We build empathy with the people we are designing new technology for and ensure we are meeting their needs, while delivering measurable business value. You will work alongside strategists and technologists who think AI-first.
In your role you will be responsible for:

• Business Case Development Support
  • Support senior value orchestrators and business strategies in developing value frameworks and financial modelling for clients, understanding the financial and strategic opportunities within an organisation
• Operating Model Design Support
  • Support senior strategists in designing new operating models for transformation which enable organisations to deliver human-centered, agile, and intelligent workflows
• Intelligent Workflow Design
  • Leverage methods such as IBM Enterprise Design Thinking and IBM Design for AI and Data
  • Familiarity with service design and process mining tools to re-imagine intelligent, lean workflows
  • You may design, run and develop insights from qualitive user research through observation and interview
  • You will be adept at drawing and communicating insights from quantitative research
  • You will support Change Management and Adoption of new technology through communications planning and content design
  • Persona development
  • Workshop Facilitation and Support
• Design for AI

  • Leverage AI tools and models to augment/automate designer tasks listed above (e.g. using AI to synthesis findings, create report structures)

  • Develop your own AI assistants to accelerate your work

  • AI Generated artefacts (e.g. user journey and persona development)

  • Root your methods and values in Ethical AI

The ideal candidate will have work experience or qualifications in the fields of business management, economics and design. You will be deeply curious about artificial intelligence and its evolving impact on the world. You will be a core team member, keen to collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team from business, technology and design who are aligned around a common goal.

• Be an Australian Citizen/ Permanent Resident

• Satisfy an AU Gov client Pre-Engagement Integrity Check

• Be eligible to obtain an AGSVA NV1 security clearance or already have AGSVA NV1 security clearance

• Permanent Residents: Must have been an Australian resident for the past five (5) years.

• A passion for innovative ideas, coupled with the ability to understand and assimilate different points of view

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Ability to apply logic to solve business problems through a detailed analytical approach

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Professional or University-based design experience with a portfolio representing design artifacts and associated projects

• Demonstrated accountability and adaptability with willingness to readily and voluntarily take ownership of highly challenging tasks and problems, even beyond initial scope of responsibility

• A passion for innovative ideas, coupled with the ability to understand and assimilate different points of view

• Effective interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work with individuals, strengthening relationships to achieve win-win solutions

• Possesses deep empathy for users and their needs, humility to recognize the limits of assumptions, and boldness in the conception of solutions
