    Position summary

    the Romanian authorities, including ANAF (the tax authority) and the Trade Register.

    • Audit Support: Acting as a point of contact for external and internal auditors, providing documentation and explanations as required.

    • Signing the Financial Statements: As a certified professional (often an expert accountant accredited by CECCAR), the statutory accountant is legally required to sign and take responsibility for the accuracy and compliance of the financial statements.

    • Liaison with Authorities: Managing interactions with local regulatory bodies, including responding to inquiries or audits.

    Requirements:

    Educational Background

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field

    • A Master's degree in Finance or Tax Law is often preferred

    • CECCAR (Romanian Chartered Accountant certification) is a strong asset

    • Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP may be required, depending on the company

    Technical Skills

    • In-depth knowledge of Romanian statutory accounting and tax regulations

    • Proven experience with:

    • Monthly, quarterly, and annual closings

    • Preparation of statutory financial statements

    • Profit tax, VAT, and local tax filings

    • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or others

    • Advanced Excel skills

    • Familiarity with local accounting software (e.g., Saga, Ciel, SmartBill) is a plus

    Professional Experience

    • 3-5 years of experience in statutory accounting, ideally in a multinational environment or audit firm

    • Experience coordinating with external auditors and tax authorities

    • Understanding of intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, and local compliance requirements

    Language & Communication

    • Fluency in Romanian

    • Strong English skills (both written and spoken)

    • Ability to communicate effectively with auditors, tax authorities, and international finance teams

    Soft Skills

    • High attention to detail

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills

    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

    • Collaborative and able to work in cross-functional teams
