    Title and Summary

    Lead Data Scientist

    Ekata Data Science team builds models for identity verification products. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for exploratory data analysis and machine learning modelling. Your work will be high impact, strategic and innovative. The work is inherently challenging - we are looking for an entrepreneurial person who can ask the right questions, produce the best analytical approaches, collaborate with engineers, product managers and other teams, work fast and iterate to solve problems. This is an amazing opportunity to directly contribute to new products, innovate and solve real customer problems.

    As a Lead Data Scientist, you will:

    Work closely with the business owners and product managers to understand business requirements, performance metrics regarding data quality and model performance of our new products

    Work with multiple sources of data, storage systems, and building processes and pipelines to provide cohesive datasets for analysis and modelling

    Generate and maintain and optimize data pipelines for model building and model performance evaluation

    Develop, test, and evaluate modern machine learning models

    Oversee implementation of models

    Evaluate production models based on business metrics to drive continuous improvement

    Essential Skills:

    Experience with SQL language and database technologies

    Experience with at least one programming language used frequently in data science and standard data science libraries (e.g., SparkML, Scikit Learn, XGBoost)

    Effective communication skills

    Highly skilled problem solver

    Exhibits a high degree of initiative

    Nice to have:

    Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM field

    Experience in with data engineering and model building in PySpark using Spark ML

    Understands and implements methods to evaluate own work and others for bias, inaccuracy, and error

    Loves working with error-prone, messy, unstructured data
