Role
As a Lead Database Engineer, you will:

• Lead initiatives to build and maintain database environments, architect internal data solutions and conduct performance tuning and optimization
• Manage the deployment of database solutions that are optimally standardized and database updates to meet project deliverables
• Lead database security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions
• Oversee the resolution of chronic complex problems to prevent future database performance issues
• Support process improvement efforts to identify and test opportunities for automation and/or reduction in time to deployment
• Be responsible for complex design, development, and performance and system testing, and provide functional guidance and advice to experienced database administrators
• Mentor junior staff by providing training to develop technical skills and capabilities across the team

All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should:

• Have expertise in designing scalable and efficient database architectures (both relational and NoSQL), including schema design, normalization and query optimization
• Have advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex query development and performance tuning. Experience with query optimization, indexing and troubleshooting database performance issues
• Be familiar with cloud-based databases (e.g. AWS RDS) and big data tools (e.g. Hadoop)
• Have a strong understanding of database security best practices (encryption, access control), and regulatory compliance
• Prove leadership in managing and mentoring database engineering teams, along with experience in automating database tasks and integrating databases into CI/CD pipelines
• Have a strong ability to analyze complex issues, troubleshoot problems, and devise innovative solutions
• Show a strong sense of initiative, taking ownership of tasks and proactively seek improvements or solutions without constant supervision
