    Position summary

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Media Relations Strategy & Execution:
    Develop and implement proactive media relations strategies to drive positive visibility and shape the Mastercard narrative across global and regional markets.
    • Storytelling & Content Creation:
    Craft engaging and insightful stories, newsroom content, and thought leadership that align with Mastercard's business objectives, market trends, and stakeholder interests.
    • Media Engagement:
    Build and nurture relationships with top-tier journalists, editors, and influencers across business, technology, and lifestyle to secure media coverage and establish Mastercard as a thought leader.
    • Collaboration Across Teams:
    Partner with internal stakeholders (executives, marketing, product teams, and business and regional PR teams) to align messaging and ensure consistency across all media communications.

    Key Skills & Qualifications:
    • Experience:
    5+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful media relationships and strategies. Agency experience preferred.
    • Storytelling:
    Strong writing and storytelling abilities, with experience in creating high-quality, impactful content for diverse audiences across different platforms (press releases, articles, blogs, social media, etc.).
    • Media Relationships:
    Established relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and influencers in the media landscape, particularly within finance, tech, and business sectors.
    • Strategic Thinking:
    Ability to think strategically, craft compelling narratives, and align media efforts with broader organizational goals and priorities.
    • Communication Skills:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
    • Problem-Solving:
    Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues and respond quickly to fast-changing situations.
    • Team Player:
    Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams and stakeholders.
    • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in communications: Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

    In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.     New York City, New York: $102,000 - $163,000 USD
