nt and execution of the company's indirect tax strategy which includes ensuring close collaboration amongst our Tax teams to ensure consistency in best practices, leveraging shared technology tools and data flows, communication and adherence to changing Tax Regulations and Rules globally, and close support of multiple business initiatives that serve McKesson's customers. You will be responsible for leading / oversight of the property tax function, be involved in M&A due diligence related to indirect tax and leading the follow-on indirect tax integration, assisting with indirect tax planning, risk management, indirect tax audits, and other activities related to indirect tax. The successful candidate will also interact with External Tax Advisors as needed. This position includes managing tax personnel, establishing tax policies, implementing processes, procedures and improvements, and ensuring tax related documentation is prepared and maintained. The Senior Director will be involved in technical research, coordination with tax colleagues to ensure implementation of tax law changes, process improvement initiatives, and communicating tax matters and recommended options to the VP - Indirect Tax and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities :
Lead and manage a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative high-performing work environment.
Partner closely with the Indirect Tax functional teams to ensure adherence to compliance obligations, resource planning and project goals.
Provide support for strategic initiatives, business transactions, restructurings and M&A activities, including participating in due diligence projects for Indirect Tax, identifying potential indirect tax concerns, calculating and evaluating risk and exposure, including mitigation options, and advising internal partners.
Assess operational plans and initiatives within the company and provide real time guidance on Indirect Tax considerations and opportunities, including risk analysis.
Lead in a highly collaborative, multi-teaming environment with adaptiveness and willingness to partner across multiple functions including Legal, Finance, Technology, Operations, Logistics, and Compliance teams, fostering strong relationships, and integrating tax considerations into business operations, contracts, and transactions.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Tax authorities.
Actively manage third party tax and legal advisors to effectively support Indirect Tax needs and projects.
Stay informed about changes in tax laws, assessing impact on McKesson and providing recommendations to the VP-Indirect Tax and other tax senior leadership on strategy.
Perform research and provide analysis on indirect tax considerations to operationalize new offerings while minimizing tax risk.
Bring a mindset and culture of continuous improvement and cross-teaming to a dynamic, high-growth and fast changing environment, identify, recommend, and implement Indirect Tax operational process improvements, focusing on controls, automation, efficiency, and analytics, and fostering Indirect Tax best practices and policies.
Present recommendations concerning tax positions, strategic initiatives, audit controversies, and ensuring sufficient documentation and appropriate support for technical positions.

Leadership:

Strong Indirect Tax & accounting knowledge and a desire to continue to develop that knowledge.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and willingness to keep management informed.
Mentor and develop tax staff and identify ways to improve existing processes that enhance the team's experience, knowledge, and efficiencies.
Adoption of new tax software and implement processing changes as required.
Support M&A transactions and drive integration activities and special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field.
20 years' experience in accounting, Indirect Tax technical research and application, tax planning, penning tax protests / appeals and defense.
Technical expert with exemplary tax research skills in U.S. Indirect Taxes, particularly property tax and sales and use tax.
Proven ability to analyze and review large data sets in Excel and other mediums and draw conclusions / determine next steps to solve, resolve issues.
Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail; able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities / expectations in accordance with deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership and all functional and operational teams, including ability to convey complex Indirect Tax rules to an audience not experienced in tax matters.
Positive, driven and energetic; enjoys "rolling up your sleeves" to get the job done.
Proficient in computer skills and applications including Word, Excel, tax software such as Vertex, and ERP systems such as SAP, JDE, PeopleSoft.
Masters Degree: Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance
