The Sales and Trading team is made up of a group of experienced municipal market professionals focused on providing exceptional services to the full complement of our clients.
Qualified senior Analyst / Associate candidates will benefit from unique exposure to the municipal market through sales and trading activities. Qualified candidates will work with Public Finance investment bankers, internal risk functions, municipal syndicate, investors, and other capital markets professionals.
Primary Responsibilities
Liaison between clients/sales/trading/underwriting to properly resource and prepare clients for successful placement of MS primary Markets pipeline
Create bespoke reports and analysis of MS Muni Market footprint including but not limited to, client specific flows and portfolios, analysis of clients market activity, analysis of relative value between various fixed income products, analysis of relative value between various sectors and structures of municipal bonds
Engage strat and modeling team to give feedback and test new technologies prior to roll out to group
Engage and face Morgan Stanley's institutional client base to provide best in class client experience
Learn and understand Morgan Stanley's risk taking framework
Learn and understand Morgan Stanley's client financing business
Learn, understand and explain Morgan Stanley's municipal research and trade ideas and ultimately be proficient in presenting to clients
Qualifications:
Developed understanding of the municipal market
Minimum 1 year of experience in municipal debt capital markets, public finance or another applicable structured finance/fixed income role
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with programming languages such as Python or VBA are a plus.
Excellent communication and presentation skills - written and verbal
Curious, inquisitive, collaborative, attention to detail, analytical, self-starting, team-oriented
Eager to use new technologies to enhance traditional municipal syndicate job functions
Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and simultaneously manage multiple high priority projects

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year at the commencement of employment for Analyst and between $150,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment for Associate. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
