    We are seeking a high potential Senior Lending Transactor ("SLT") to help grow our Ultra High Net Worth ("UHNW") Lending team serving UHNW clients (generally clients with a minimum net worth of at least $50 million). The SLT's responsibility will be to help broaden product coverage responsibilities in the Northeast Region with potential further expansion of coverage responsibilities to other regions over time. In addition, the SLT will market and collaborate with the various Private Bankers ("PBs") supporting this region. Strong preference is for the SLT to be located in New York, NY.

    Position Summary

    • Position Goal is to drive growth, across the UHNW, including Tailored Lending, product in accordance with established Risk Acceptance Criteria. The Position will be dealing with Bank Loan Products only .

    • Overall role, as an SLT, will be to act as a product partner to PBs and FAs to identify and efficiently deliver UHNW Lending solutions to clients.

    • Responsibilities will include:

      Assessing potential UHNW Lending opportunities, which will include: i) evaluating the Borrower; ii) valuation of the underlying collateral; and iii) determining if the opportunity aligns with one of the approved UHNW Lending programs.

      Performing the appropriate level of due diligence, including evaluating appropriate financial and non-financial information to perform opportunity assessment, as defined in (a) above.

      Identify key risk and mitigants related to the opportunity and propose potential structural protections and other terms and conditions that may mitigate such risk.

      Draft and negotiate Bank Letters of Intent (LOIs) with the client in coordination with the FA & PB.

      Prepare and/or assist with the preparation of credit memoranda clearly outlining transaction, purpose, strengths, risks and mitigants, financial/collateral analysis and other key terms and conditions required to support the SLT's recommendation to move forward with the opportunity.

      Efficiently manage transaction cycle through final credit approval, documentation, closing and initial funding of the transaction ensuring timely coordination with all parties involved including Credit Risk Management ("CRM"), FA, PB, Loan Operations, Compliance, In-house Counsel and any other party who is, or should be, involved in the specific transaction.

      Engage in ongoing portfolio maintenance with the exception of loan covenants and loan servicing which will be handled by Asset Management.

      Efficiently manage active product pipeline balancing client/FA expectation and expected performance.

      Meeting with clients and prospects in coordination with FAs and PBs to develop/enhance client/prospect relationships and identify potential product opportunities.

      In coordination with the PB, meet with branch and complex teams to heighten product awareness and train front-end sales on identifying potential product opportunities.

    Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced degree preferred

    • Minimum 5-10 years of private banking lending origination experience

    • Investment/Commercial Real Estate, Art, Aircraft, Hedge Funds, Private Equity Bridge to Capital Call Lines, and Securities Based Lending experience preferred.

    • Formal credit training preferred

    Skills/Abilities

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate your assessment in a clear and professional manner to senior management, Credit Risk Management, PBs, FAs and clients/prospects. The objective is to consistently manage the expectations of each of these parties.

    • Maintain poise and presence coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships with sophisticated UNHW clients and their advisors

    • Ability to develop and coordinate activities of junior team members

    • Demonstrate creativity and intelligent solutions in structuring sophisticated client transactions

    • Balance revenue expectations with risk requirements of firm to ensure client and firm's interests are met

    • Ability to tactfully and professionally decline transactions while maintain FA and client relationships

    • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills

    • Detail orientation with exceptional analytical skills

    • Significant accounting and finance knowledge

    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage Financial Advisor and client expectations

    • Ability to multi-task

    • Good collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment

    • Travel is required

    Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
