    Position summary

    lling in order to cover important US electricity or energy markets with in-house modelling and forecasts. You will be based in Austin or Chicago in our office premises (Austin is preferred) and report into the Head of US long-term power modelling.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support long-term electricity modelling for the relevant US growth markets such as Western Interconnect (in particular CAISO)

    • Consider specific characteristics with regard to market fundamentals, policy and electricity market design, and translate it into model inputs

    • Collect detailed expert knowledge from operating teams, filter relevant information and apply it to long-term electricity market models

    • Closely collaborate with your team members and other parts of strategic Market Analysis to learn from experienced modellers and to assure that overarching or global long-term modelling concepts and assumptions are in line with established RWE principles

    • Together with the Head of US long-term power modelling, communicate findings to the main stakeholders such as Commercial Analysis, Strategy, Regulatory Affairs, Controlling and Finance within North America and on Group level

    • Support application of US forecasts and modelling results across the RWE Group and discuss implications with stakeholders and the Head of Strategic Market Analysis

    Your powerful skills

    • University Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent. An advanced degree with an electricity market focus is a plus

    • Very strong quantitative and analytical skills (transfer of algorithms into model conduct)

    • At least one year of work experience in (long-term) electricity market modelling and analysis, including experience with production cost-based modelling tools such as PLEXOS, AURORA, PROMOD, UPLAN, or similar mathematical programming languages like GAMS is a plus

    • Ability to transfer knowledge between analysis and decision makers in other departments with an interdisciplinary approach

    • Experience in interfacing with databases, programming and data visualisation software (SQL, R, Python, Tableau)

    • Good communication skills and the ability to condense model results into presentations for different groups of stakeholders

    • Business fluent in English

    • Enthusiastic team player, high level of self-motivation and flexibility, ability to work in a competitive environment and to meet tight deadlines
