Works with Sales and Supply Chain before project is sold to help scope the work, determine resource requirements, identify price, determine discounts, and identify any potential risks related to the project
Prepares and coordinates commercial offers to customers, working together with engineering to determine hardware and software specification, and engineering estimates
Develops a project plan that provides the customer with a fully integrated set of product, process, and technical solutions that draw on Schneider Electric's total value proposition to meet the needs of the customer and support the execution of the master project plan (if in place)
Manages projects, directing project team according to process descriptions
Main contact point for customers, vendors, subcontractors during the implementation of the project
Ensures maximum profitability and minimum capital need during the project implementation
Participates on Site Surveys, Kick off Meetings, Progress Meetings, Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, Project Close-out meetings, and other meetings with clients, engineers, and suppliers, if required
Works with third-party vendors to ensure compatibility with Schneider Electric's solution
Seeks and contracts with people resources for the project based on team members' expertise, skills, availability, and cost
Aligns people resources from multiple internal functions (e.g., Engineering, Services, Sales, Product Development, Finance, Supply Chain) and third parties and ensures a productive working relationship between all team members to provide seamless and cost-effective delivery of Schneider Electric's solutions to the customer
Defines and communicates the project expectations of team members to clarify roles and ensure accountability for the achievement of project goals
Demands the high-quality performance from colleagues, subcontractors and suppliers during contracting
Controls incoming subcontractor invoices and supplier's documentation
Completes administrative tasks related to projects (SAP, reports, project follow-up)
Identifies project risk factors and puts in place plans and actions to mitigate them
Sets customer expectations and manages day-to-day customer relationships to stay apprised of customer's needs and concerns, mitigate project risks, and facilitate smooth delivery of the solution
Proactively manages non-compliances, actively sells changes and modifications to the customer
Personally addresses customer satisfaction issues that may compromise the impact of the project
Maximizes project revenues by actively consulting with customers to fully diagnose problems and identify opportunities for extending project impact, success, and scope
Builds customers' understanding of Schneider Electric's customer value proposition and positions Schneider Electric in a manner that extends project scope from the as sold position and increases the value provided to the customer
Develops understanding of customer's key buying factors and uses this understanding to assist in extending project scope
Improves cashflow by identifying issues with project budget, streamlining billing activities, and monitoring and resolving issues with payments
Identifies and disseminates project management best practices (e.g., PMI concepts) and applies standard project management processes as defined by MOS and the Global Project Management Office
Performs any other task requested by manager related to the job scope.
Demands and overview safe execution of project tasks on site, on the customer's premises and in Schneider Electric's warehouse/offices
Essential Competencies
Technical University Bachelor's/Master's/Doctor's degree in electrical engineering, IT, applied informatics or automation;
3+ years of experience in Automation control industry and/or related engineering experience in disciplines such as process, chemical, mechanical, industrial, and/or electrical engineering with end-users and/or EPCs;
5+ years of experience in managing automation, electrical distribution, or IT projects;
Experience with third-party solution providers;
Experience interfacing with customers and leading customer interactions;
Exposure to managing difficult client situations;
Project P&L experience;
Self-starter capabilities & be able to work under your own initiative;
Strong motivation and interest in learning new technologies, working on projects and travelling on the frequent business trips to customers;
High commitment to work, proactive approach and flexibility;
Customer approach, team spirit and good communication and presentation skills;
Understanding of contractual and legal aspects of the project;
Experience and understanding of project risk management/mitigation techniques;
Fluent level of written and spoken English; other languages are plus
Valid driving license (Category B).
Technical Skills
Knowledge of SAP project module and reporting;
Experience with process control engineering;
Experience in working with control design documents;
PC Software literacy: MS Visio, MS Project or Primavera, MS Office.
Desirable Competencies
Experience in working as an Applications Engineer
Experience in leading a cross-functional team;
Experience in leading a global team
Work experience in a global company;
PMI certification or equivalent;
Experience with control software and hardware: PLC, DCS;
Knowledge of process control theory;
Knowledge of another foreign language (German, Italian, French, etc.);
Good understanding of Schneider Electric's relevant product, solution and software portfolio.
