Role Responsibilities
Direct and oversee a team of unionized employees in daily operations, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures to minimize incidents and reduce recordable injuries
Drive the Quality, HACCP, GMP, 5S, and Integrated Management Systems (IMS) to meet ISO and OHSAS Standards
Ensure demanding production targets are met while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Supervise the dumping of barrels containing matured spirits, flavorings, and blended products into processing tanks, as well as the filling of barrels with new spirit.
Oversee & coordinate the warehousing of filled barrels, including the withdrawal and handling of both full and empty barrels for retention and shipment
Manage the loading of barrels onto trucks, trailers, or containers, and ensure accurate sampling of maturing spirits from warehoused barrels
Maintain accurate barrel inventory and ordering of barrels and auxiliary items
Lead 5S initiatives ensuring the cleanliness of warehouses, yard and dumping/filling area of the Tankhouse, and housekeeping standards within assigned areas
Lead daily activities, including operational performance reporting and managing warehouse employee shifts and vacation schedules
Minimize downtime by providing necessary technical support and troubleshooting skills in collaboration with maintenance personnel
Manage SAP, operations and material movements; daily, monthly and year end documentation
Revise standard work instructions, safety, quality and operations and apply lean problem-solving tools (RCPS, 5-Why, DMAIC, etc.) to drive continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is an asset.
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience with proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment (preferably within the food or beverage industry).
Demonstrated success in leading and motivating unionized teams to achieve operational goals and performance targets.
Strong understanding of collective bargaining agreements, labor relations, and conflict resolution in a unionized setting.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members while holding them accountable to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office Suite and inventory control.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
Demonstrated ability to use lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (e.g., RCPS, 5-Why, DMAIC).
