The Head of US Third-Party Risk Management leads the US Third Party management strategy. As a member of the second line of defense, this role owns the oversight of the Third-Party Risk Management Program, Framework and Policy to set a consistent and appropriate bar across the bank. This role has both the accountability and the authority to provide oversight and independent challenge of the first line of defense in support of the Bank's Risk Appetite, vendor management framework and policy.
Depth & Scope:
Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
Champions a culture of risk awareness, emphasizing the importance of risk management and fostering an environment where employees are encouraged to identify and report risks
Attracts, mentors and retains top talent in Third Party Risk Management. Builds a team culture focused on professional growth, operational excellence, and high performance. Promotes ongoing education and certification in relevant areas of data and risk management
Influences key decisions and strategic investments in data risk management and general data capabilities
Supports the evolution of the Third-Party Program and policy aligned with US regulatory requirements and best practices
Regularly assesses the effectiveness of the US TPRM Program and works with the Enterprise VP TPRM to implement improvements as necessary
Supports evolution of the risk taxonomy used as the basis for risk assessments and risk reporting
Owns articulation of the US TPRM Risk Profile and reporting
Changes in US regulations related to TPRM
Leading TPRM risk management practices of peer banks
TPRM Frameworks and best practices
Remains engaged in industry forums relating to TPRM, Resilience and Data Protection
Follows trends in third party, metrics, evolving sources of vendor information, vendor breach protections
Assesses adoption and adherence to TPRM policies, procedures, risk assessments, issue management resolution for the US
Challenges design and effectiveness of controls impacting US
Develops productive relationships with first line of defense while maintaining independence
Works closely with other risk management functions (e.g. operational, technology, cybersecurity, data, model) to ensure a holistic approach to risk management and to avoid silos.
Engages with US senior executive management and the US Board of Directors in risk committees to report on third party risk
Manages US regulatory relationships including standing updates and ad hoc inquiries relating to third party risk
Education & Experience**:**
Bachelor's degree required
10+ years of professional experience in second line Risk Management; demonstrated experience in Third Party Oversight Programs
Experience in resilience, RCSA, data related controls is a plus
Professional certifications are a plus
Strategic thinker with robust analytical skills and the ability to investigate and articulate downstream and horizontal impacts
Strong understanding of US regulatory environment and compliance requirements
Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the adeptness to engage and influence senior executives and board members
Effective influencing and persuasion skills with groups outside of core team; ability to build consensus
