    Job Description:

    The Loan Underwriting Group Manager oversees functions (single to multi-faceted) as assigned to include, but not limited to, underwriting for, first real estate mortgages, home equity, centralized lending, private banking, cross border lending, construction lending, and exception lending.

    This job has responsibility for providing strategic direction, guidance on a broad and diverse range of complex activities / analysis and/or specialized project support or services within Retail Lending Operations including significant regulations such as Intra-Agency guidelines and Fannie Mae investor requirements. This Underwriting role manages professionals in support of developing business goals and evaluating results, and provides input to new products and technologies, and procedure/service coaching to senior staff.

    This job ensures training and development plans are built and executed upon for and by respective teams. Accepts responsibility for the ongoing success and reliability of mortgage credit decisions used to secure money out product line while supporting TD Bank's mission, vision, strategic goals, quality initiatives and service standards while supporting and providing WOW! service.

    The Loan Underwriting Group Manager is actively involved in execution of Retail Credit Risk Policy and associated adherence or exception management including exceptions considered "Board Reportable," and communicates with Executives on a regular basis.

    Depth and Scope:

    • Supervises daily operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency of workflow and staff

    • Ensures 48 hour turn time SLA is met

    • Acts as an advisor to production and operations staff to ensure team goals are met

    • Helps with the selection process and orientation of new staff members

    • Supports Loan operations in whatever capacity needed

    • Provides exceptional customer service, congruent with WOW! Philosophies to customers, vendors and other institutions

    • Demonstrates sound judgment conveying departmental policies and procedures

    • Conducts monthly underwriting staff meeting and individual one on one monthly meetings with underwriters

    • Supports Operations Director with delegation program

    • Performs other duties as may be assigned

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree or work experience equivalent to Bachelor's degree required

    • FHA DE a must

    • VA LAPP a must

    • 10+ Years of related experience

    • In-depth knowledge and understanding of bank operations, department policies, procedures, products, services, systems and applications

    • Proven ability to interact with all TD Bank and departmental customers

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Excellent PC skills and familiarity with standard office equipment

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment a must

    • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and has excellent customer service skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills

    • Proven supervisory experience, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills

    • In-depth knowledge of accounting

    • Flexibility in adjusting priorities

    • Proven ability to pro-actively manage workflow

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience managing a team of underwriters

    • Experience managing credit underwriting quality and action plans

    • Strong spirit of collaboration

    • This position falls within the definition of Loan Originator as defined under Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act, 12 CFR Part 1026.36, and the definition of Mortgage Loan Originator as defined under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act), 12 U.S.C. §§ 5102 et seq., and its implementing regulations, 12 CFR Part 1007

    • Must be eligible for employment with a covered financial institution under the standards established by Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act, 12 CFR Part 1026.36

    • Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with the NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry) in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act), 12 U.S.C. §§ 5102 et seq., and its implementing regulations, 12 CFR Part 1007

    • Satisfactory results on a criminal background check and a credit report check, and statements/certification from job applicant regarding administrative, civil, and/or criminal findings by any government agency/authority, are required by federal law for this position
