Job Responsibilities
Support the preparation of the quarterly statutory investment footnotes and schedules, including statutory, GAAP, and management reports, for HIMCO.
Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, SSAP) and regulatory requirements (e.g., NAIC, SEC).
Support the monthly close process by reviewing the monthly reconciliations, as well as overseeing any necessary manual accounting entries
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insightful explanations for variances to senior management.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting reporting function.
Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required by management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.
Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Master's degree or CPA preferred.
4+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial reporting, preferably within investment/insurance industry.
Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and statutory reporting requirements (NAIC).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint; TM1, Wdesk, and Copilot is a plus
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present complex financial information.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
