    Responsibilities:

    • Key thought leader, collaborator, and contributor, partnering across Enterprise and LOB teams to define Reference Architecture Patterns and drive adoption to meet business, technology, and data strategies.

    • Define target state architecture for Data & AI Platforms including multi-cloud distributed storage and compute, model orchestration, and observability systems that provide scalable, resilient, and secure capabilities operating in a cost-optimized manner.

    • Collaborate with Data Science, Data Engineering, and Platform Engineering to design a platform architecture that enable a seamless and predictable transition from experimentation and discovery through operating production models at scale in a regulated environment.

    • Partner with new data initiatives and related programs to ensure alignment to Enterprise Data Strategy and Architecture, including review and approval of key design documents.

    • Make it easy for engineers to adopt and implement appropriate and approved solution patterns solving their business partners most pressing and complex needs.

    • Define and evangelize technical platform standards that contribute to highly scalable, self-healing, and secure systems.

    • Provide leadership and mentorship to federated teams of architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous upskilling and learning.

    • Cultivate and lead communities of practice that evangelize the benefits and promote the adoption of re-useable solution patterns, along with establishing a feedback mechanism for continuous improvement and iterations of such patterns.

    • Scan and filter the market for emerging platform solutions, technologies, and new architectural concepts to incorporate into an evolving portfolio of platform capabilities.

    • Lead the build and execution of POCs and prototypes that serve to qualify and validate emerging data and AI platform solutions and can be leveraged as solution quick starts.

    Required Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience designing cloud-based architectures for data and AI platforms

    • 10+ years of software engineering experience in a large enterprise operating (preferably in insurance or financial services)

    • 5+ years of experience designing large-scale distributed systems in a public/hybrid cloud environment (preferably in AWS or Google)

    • Deep understanding and experience with AI/ML engineering workflows and design patterns

    • Professional Cloud certification (preferably in AWS or Google)

    • 5+ years of experience working with infrastructure-as-code, Python or Go,

    • Experience with DevOps, MLOps, and CI/CD

    • Experience designing for Cloud Security in a distributed multi-cloud environment

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $180,000 - $270,000
