    Position summary

    out data and analytics business requirements completely and accurately from stakeholders. Performs requirements planning, monitoring and requirements management. Independently performs rigorous data analysis, data discovery and data profiling using industry standard querying tools to support business requirements development that are complete, clear, unambiguous, well written and appropriate to audience. Maintains data mapping documents, bus matrix and/or other data design artifacts that define business data requirements and transformation rules. Act as liaison and advisor/consultant between the business and IT stakeholders providing thought leadership. Lead responsibility in mentoring, instructing, assigning, directing and checking the work of Business Data Analysts within their group. Acts as a change leader to help and drive implementation of industry best practices. Provides support and consulting by answering questions, researching possible solutions to complex problems, and fostering open communication between the customer and development team. Identifies logical, relevant business, data relationships between complex topics in the broader context of own project or functional area. Identifies choices and improvement opportunities to better align own work with the direction and strategic priorities of the broader organization.

    This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT and Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Responsibilities

    • Critical leadership in defining and enforcing governance

    • Analyze and identify flaws in current processes from a data perspective

    • Partner with underwriting, operations and data leads to create processes that ensure data is collected, stored and processed appropriately

    • Collaborate with the head architect to implement their design of a data-enabled structure

    • Engage with enterprise functions to implement governance principles that are consistent with The Hartford's standards

    • Implement policies and procedures that create guardrails for continuous monitoring

    • Influence the manner in which the organization addresses data gaps, including advocating for initiatives that drive change

    Qualifications

    • 6+ years of experience in business requirements or data analysis supporting the Insurance industry and data warehouse or reporting/analytic projects.

    • Bachelors degree required

    • Extensive experience in a technical data background, including with data marts, lakes and warehouses (e.g. as a data analyst, data engineer etc.)

    • Ability to independently access complex data systems to investigate and identify data gaps

    • A leader who can form strong relationships with peers and leaders by building trust and speaking the language of senior business leaders, data scientists and APMs

    • Familiarity working with data architects and understanding of data structure standards

    • Understanding of how to create governance documentation, including Entity Relationship Diagrams, Data Dictionaries etc.

    • Expertise in domain-driven development and data structures (insurance preferred but not required)

    • Proficient in industry standard querying tools

    • Experience working on Agile projects

    • Excellent facilitation, requirements elicitation and data querying & analysis skills.

    • Experience with mentoring and leading other Business Analyst or Data Analysis

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $96,560 - $144,840
