    Position summary

    Responsibilities:

    This role will provide actuarial support for our US/International Property and US Casualty Reinsurance segments. In this position, the individual will collaborate with underwriting, reserving, and claims counterparts to project expected profitability, evaluate returns for individual accounts, and spearhead improvements to non-cat pricing methods and parameters. This position reports directly to the Lead Actuary for NavRe.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Serve as the lead pricing actuary supporting US & International Property products.

    • Develop and maintain best-in-class non-cat pricing and modeling tools for the business.

      • Implement pricing model parameter updates, considering segment specific parameters where applicable.
      • Identify areas for model enhancement and consolidation.
    • Support pricing for new and renewal treaties across both Property and US Casualty including:

      • Lead and peer review treaty pricing where significant non-cat exposure exists.
      • Work with underwriters to develop timely and accurate pricing recommendations.
      • Properly document pricing decisions, including the evaluation of risk transfer.
    • Regularly evaluate regional/product profitability, identifying over or under performing segments.

    • Conduct pricing audits to assess model usage and recommend solutions to ensure pricing accuracy.

    • Provide guidance and input into the quarterly reserve and annual planning cycles.

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of Commercial/Reinsurance pricing experience.

    • Reinsurance experience strongly preferred.

    • ACAS/FCAS designation.

    • Strong technical, analytical and data skills.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to audiences of various levels and diverse technical backgrounds.

    • Self-motivation, creativity, & project/customer management skills.

    • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

    • BA or BS degree, preferably in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or related field of study.

    Location:

    • This role is eligible for a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near our office locations in Hartford, Stamford, New York City, Morristown, Miami or Chicago will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

    • Some travel is required.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $147,440 - $221,160
