    This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our PI HUB office locations (Hartford, CT. San Antonio, TX. Scottsdale, AZ. Charlotte, NC. Tampa, FL. Columbus, OH.) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee, develop and mentor a highly productive team of data scientists to build, test, validate, and maintain robust solutions to business problems.

    • Review work with leadership and partners on an ongoing basis to calibrate deliverables against expectations.

    • Identify long term opportunities to improve product pricing and maximize the predictive accuracy of our models. Advance the department's capabilities to continually evolve the practice of data science, with an ability to see the end-to-end solution.

    • Identify and assess the value of new data sources and analytical techniques to ensure ongoing competitive advantage.

    • Present complex analytics to decision-makers with an emphasis on business impact.

    • Apply statistical knowledge balanced with economic thinking and common sense in the development of models to drive profitable growth and make sound business decisions.

    • Collaborate with other leaders to provide timely feedback and development plans and opportunities for staff.

    • Manage team priorities and road maps utilizing an Agile framework

    Experience & Skills

    • Master's or Ph.D required, in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Quantitative Economics, AI Machine Learning, or other similar analytical fields

    • 8+ years of relevant experience in Research Functions within the P&C insurance industry, other Financial Services or related fields. Standout candidates will have direct experience with pricing models.

    • 3+ years directing a team, setting priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives. Experience managing technical personnel in project based environment.

    • Programming experience in Python required

    • Additional knowledge and experience of MLOps (including model deployments and CI/CD) and cloud-based applications techniques are preferred

    • Subject matter expertise in statistical modeling

    • Strong strategic thinking and exceptional analytical capability

    • Strong verbal/written communication skills; Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization

    • Requires sophisticated business acumen in order to successfully translate complex technical topics into business solutions and strategies

    • Demonstrated track record of executing change to core business processes through the innovative use of quantitative techniques

    • Advanced negotiating, influencing, and conflict resolution skills at all organizational levels

    • Drive and commitment to get the job done efficiently, thoroughly, and professionally.

    • Eye for innovation - seeks new and creative ways to approach analytical exercises and development projects.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $153,200 - $229,800
