nsuring the team delivers high quality claim handing with respect to coverage, liability and damages analysis, litigation management, negotiation strategy and effective resolution. The Director is also responsible for expense management and compliance with corporate claim standards and procedures, as well as all statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. They will effectively communicate, demonstrate a thorough understanding of business vision and strategies, and develop plans for achieving business goals. They will also demonstrate superior technical and jurisdictional expertise in matters arising on the team. The Director will also assume responsibility for leading assigned projects and efforts in support of overall team and department goals.

Responsibilities:
Visibly support and execute on enterprise, claim and organization strategic initiatives and goals.
Stay current on litigation, industry, and environmental trends.
Manage and implement change, as appropriate, guiding with vision and confidence in times of uncertainty.
Use critical thinking skills to gather information, draw appropriate conclusions, develop strategies and make sound decisions in the team's management of high exposure auto and liability claims.
Ensure that coverage, liability, and damages issues are thoroughly and appropriately analyzed and that reserve recommendations are timely communicated and implemented.
Communicate orally and in writing in a clear, succinct manner, demonstrating executive level presentation skills.
Build and sustain strong partnership and collaboration with business partners including LOB leads, underwriters, legal, actuary and finance.
Demonstrate superior analytical and critical thinking skills as well as excellent time management abilities.
Develop and sustain effective and mutually supportive relationships with business partners and customers to enhance cross-functional learning and communication on claim initiatives or trends, financial impacts, service capabilities and customer needs.
Effectively hold self and staff accountable for achievement of business results, customer service and outcomes.
Qualifications:
Minimum of eight years of P&C claim industry experience; experience managing GL Claims strongly preferred.
A Bachelor's Degree is required; an MBA or JD degree is a plus.
Minimum of three years of direct leadership experience required, able to deliver superior level coaching, mentoring, training and leadership skills for team.
Superior technical knowledge regarding coverage, liability, damages, and litigation matters.
Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; with the ability to present in front of executive leaders.
Ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organization, including ability to interact with senior leadership in Claim, The Hartford's business segments, and The Hartford's distribution partners.
Established ability to execute including a proven track record managing complex projects or initiatives.
Strong analytical acumen and excellent planning and organizational skills.
Bias for action and continuous improvement.
Additional Information:
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$131,040 - $196,560
