    Position summary

    ation. This role is highly visible within Data Science and to business segment leadership, requiring both a mastery of detailed business analysis and the ability to clearly communicate to higher levels of the organization. As an expert resource for business segment executives, this leader will monitor trends within various lines of business (Financial Lines, Primary & Excess Casualty, Property, Commercial Auto, Inland & Ocean Marine, Environmental, Bond, Livestock, Energy, Credit & Political Risk) reporting findings to the leaders of Global Specialty. The role will require strategic planning and the development of a high performing team.

    Essential to success will be the ability to build strong, trusted relationships with Product, Actuarial, Claims, Finance, Strategy and Enterprise Data Services. The candidate must effectively communicate technical data and analytic results to a diverse audience and be a proven leader and strategic thinker.

    This leader will also hold the responsibility of partnering with Transformation & Chief Operating Office to identify areas of opportunity, contribute to initiative analytic development, and support the implementation of innovative analytic solutions that enhance performance and operational efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    • Strategic Planning; building and management of Performance Analytics Roadmap

    • Maturing internal Operational Routines and ceremonies; while fostering collaboration

    • Managing a team of 4

    • Build analytical frameworks, including dataset creation/enhancement, tooling, and automation to enable deeper and faster analytical delivery

    • Create and enhance performance and process metrics, leveraging a deep understanding of end-to-end performance of critical process and business objectives

    • Perform intermediate level analytics, including but not limited to correlation, regression, external influences, and leading & lagging indicators to understand emerging trends, identify root causes, and drive meaningful improvement

    • Synthesize and translate results into a compelling narrative to explain complex analytical work and associated recommendations to business senior leadership

    • Build trusted partnerships with key stakeholders and senior business leaders and developing ongoing business insights

    • Support Underwriting strategies to improve operational results and address emerging trends

    • Develop an understanding of GS data assets, combining data from multiple disparate sources as required

    • Create and refine performance analytic tools for PA team usage

    • Respond to ad-hoc project and analytic requests and data queries and assign to team as appropriate

    This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Qualifications
    • 5+ years of data analysis experience including identifying patterns in data and root cause behind perceived trends and anomalies using analytical and data visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau)
    • 2+ years' experience leading, guiding, coaching, teaching and influencing an analytics team to deliver on team goals and responsibilities.
    • 2+ years' experience building working relationships with business partners and bring groups together to solve problems; consultative mindset
    • Creative problem solving and curious mindset with a passion for delivering outcomes
    • Strong analytical experience
    • Effective written, verbal communication and story-telling skills
    • Knowledge of data warehousing / relational database concepts and foundational experience with SQL
    • Foundational knowledge of insurance products, coverages, common metrics, & actuarial concepts
    • Ability and desire to learn GS business products, systems, processes and procedures
    • Creative, innovative and a critical thinker - thinks "out of the box" and considers new ways of analyzing data
    • Adept at researching and independently learning about new subject areas

    Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

    $124,000 - $186,000
