    Position summary

    he strategic narrative and insights leader for DAIO, responsible for translating complex strategy into clear, compelling, and decision-oriented materials for the DAIO Senior Leadership Team and senior executives, including supporting content for Board of Directors and C-suite forums. The Director will partner closely within DAIO and with senior executives to ensure strategic priorities are clearly articulated, aligned to enterprise goals, and driven to measurable outcomes.

    This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford CT, Charlotte NC, Chicago IL, Columbus OH) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

    This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Partner with DAIO senior leadership to help refine, operationalize, and execute DAIO strategy, goals, objectives, and priorities aligned to enterprise strategy. Translate long-term strategic direction into actionable initiatives, roadmaps, and execution plans.

    • Facilitate strategic planning sessions with executive leadership to define priorities, focus areas, and success measures.

    • Lead and support structured strategic initiatives within DAIO to deliver measurable outcomes.

    • Develop and define OKRs, KPIs, and scorecards aligned to Enterprise Data, Enterprise AI and Data Architecture enterprise priorities.

    • Bring visibility and measurement to goals, initiatives, and performance within and across DAIO.

    • Design and run governance forums and executive reviews to track progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.

    • Develop and maintain executive-level reporting, including preparing inputs and materials for CEO-level Monthly Operating Report reviews.

    • Create clear, compelling strategic narratives that support communication of DAIO's transformational priorities and progress.

    • Develop high-quality executive-ready materials, including presentations, insights, and recommendations, and support development of board-ready materials as needed.

    • Support and coordinate content for DAIO senior leadership meetings, Board of Directors and senior executive meetings.

    • Partner with DAIO Senior Leadership Team to ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across executive deliverables.

    • Align closely with peer Directors and functional leaders to ensure consistency, prioritization, and delivery across DAIO initiatives.

    • Conduct market, competitor, and industry analyses to inform strategic priorities and executive decision-making.

    • Synthesize external insights with internal performance data to shape strategic recommendations.

    • Lead and develop a small team focused on strategy insights and execution.

    • Partner closely with DAIO leaders and enterprise stakeholders to ensure alignment across functions and business units.

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders within assigned domains, helping navigate ambiguity and drive execution clarity.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering or Related Field. MBA in Strategy or Management Operations/Operational Excellence preferred.

    • 10-14 years of experience in corporate strategy, strategy execution, management consulting, transformation, communications, or related leadership roles.

    • Proven experience supporting senior executives, including C-suite and Board-level interactions.

    • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.

    • Experience developing executive dashboards, scorecards, and C-suite-level reporting.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven mindset.

    • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in large, matrixed organizations.

    Preferred

    • Experience in insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries.

    • Previous management consulting or corporate strategy experience

    • Deep understanding of strategic planning and execution frameworks (OKRs, KPIs, Hoshin Kanri, Balanced Scorecard).

    • Strong financial acumen, including experience assessing ROI, benefits, and performance metrics.

    Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

    Compensation

    The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
    $143,200 - $214,800
